Nathan Erfurth, 20 years old, was born in southern California in 1988. He was fortunate to have been moved by his parents at a ripe young age to Colorado, where he has since lived and grown up with his loving parents, his brother, and a small farm's worth of pets that never cease to entertain. By high school, Nathan had determined that school as it was structured really wasn't for him. He took an introductory photography class and fell in love with it. He was terrible, and was consistently ridiculed by his peers for his lack of skill, but he perservered through the semester class and proceeded to photo II and photo III. By the end of second semester, junior year, he had begun work in graphic design, primarily developing websites. He started his own web design business, Erfunath (for which this domain was originally purchased, after a username he was given in an AP Cisco class). For six months he sustained himself on it, and it eventually faded. However, his elements of design started showing up in his photography, and the interest was rekindled. With the purchase of a mere Canon 350D, Nathan was able to explore his photography during his second year at the University of Northern Colorado. Once again, school being interesting but not his strongest suit, he gravitated to the art and proceeded with an obsession thereof. Friends and peers were encouraging this time, as the elements of graphic design were strongly helping his photography. Throughout late 2007 and early 2008, he has dipped his toes in many different forms of photography, from conceptual to nature, portraiture to commercial, photojournalism to minimalism. He has yet to pick an emphasis. He prefers it this way, as life lacks emphasis, and is a collection of all of these things. Nathan's tools consist of low end digital SLR equipment and a couple of film cameras that have seen better days. His Canon A1, given to him by his father, is the great inspiration behind photography for him, and is his favorite by far of all of his cameras. Stay tuned. He's not dead yet, and will keep producing life and subsequent photography until he is! |
